Hi been the hospital again this morning only went in because of this knee thats causing me a lot of problems at the moment, any way seen a new doctor who was very thorough after doing all tests on my pressure points and asking me all sorts of questions he dx me with Fibromyalgia, i am not surprised at all as i had only ever heard of it after reading about it on here and when i looked it up i told my mum id answered yes to every symptom, he has prescribed me Amitriptyline and i have to stop taking my sleeping tablets now, i have to have CBT to help with my stress levels and he wants me to start aerobic exercise or swimming, am going to have ultra sounds done on all the damaged joints too, and he told me to get a relaxation disc , tea and coffee and chocolate have to stop and im getting some peppermint tea to see if this helps , got a big depo jab in the backside ( told him they dont work on me but he still gave it ) and had to have loads more bloods done their testing for all kinds of things, feel totally spaced out at the moment as i have a patch on but it does help with the pain and thank God it doesn't make me shake like the other pain killers do, he said he will see me next Wednesday when im back in for my second infusion if the knee has still got this thick fluid in it. aww hi sophie ahh you take care try rest if can depo may just help bit,sorry see you joined the fibro club i also ahd that test done last november. im on same drug you been given for me worked wonders there are others aswell for fibro. oh yes u wont need sleeping pills with that as it helps break no sleep cycle would have been to much with both. sorry see your knee still fluid etc,pain good luck for next wed appointment. take care genlte hugs melly  cuddly cats make my world seem so much more fun

Hi Sophie,
Sorry to hear your knee is still painful.
I too can relate to all the fibro symptoms, I think it goes hand in hand with RA ,glad you have got some treatment for it. Looks like the doc is really wanting to help you out.
Hope the depo injection works and calms things down for you.

Yet more problems for you. As Doreen says, Fibro does tend to go hand in hand with RA and I suspect the majority of folks on here have it!
I'm really pleased to see you are being taken seriously and the doctor seems like a really good guy.
Here's hoping the depo kicks in and gives you some relief over the weekend.

Hi Sophie
Thanks for letting us know how things went today, really pleased you saw a new doctor seems very dedicated and doing all he can for you, which is really good news.
As you no doubt know I m no expert in this field and still after 15 months still not controlled, (got a Butrans patch today from GP and upped the steroids til I go back to consultant )
You mentioned he recommended aerobics/ swimming. To try and keep positive 3 months ago I joined a small health club ( nothing posh ) its very reasonable ( they ve given me the over 60 's rate as I only swim) its much cheaper than the local public pool too and I go every morning first thing, they have a little jacuzzi which helps my shoulders and I can t get there fast enough! I can t get out the house really so this keeps me positive and I know its doing good too.
Hope the depo jab does the job this time and that you are able to have a restful weekend.

Oh Sophie I am so sorry you have Fibro on top of RA and Lupus now. Your Dr sounds excellent though, as if he's really on top of things and thorough, thank Gof for that!
Hope this jab helps you and that the Amit. will also aid the Fibro..

Sorry to hear that the fibro is confirmed Sophie but at least it gives an explanation for your horrible pain. It sounds like the doc is taking care of you. I hope the depo miraculously works to give you some relief.

Sophie, sorry you have had to join the fibro club!! at least your rheumy is on the ball. Hope the amti works for you, I was on that then changed to pregabelin. Just had my dose doubled at visit today. Take care hun, you have alot to cope with now and it must be so hard for you. Thinking of you, take care xBARBARA

I'm sorry you have another problem dx, it seems that lots of us have fibro. I hope the ami works, I've been taking it for years now and I feel it's my lifesaver, I can't be without it or I panic!
Relaxation and swimming should really help you, I try to go swimming every week when I feel up to it.

I'm back , stayed Saturday night as well , got 2 sleeps in till 10am haven't had that in years Lol, think its that new drug Amitr ,dont need sleeping tablets any more , feel spaced out in the mornings though, suppose i will get use to it, i do think ive had this Fibromyalgia a long time. Sophie x

Hi Sophie Just trying to catch up a bit so apologies for the lateness of this post. Not a lot to add to what's already been said. Fibromyalgia seems to run concurrently with other auto-immune disorders as a matter of course. At least your doctor seems on top of things and has got you started on what will hopefully be effective meds for you. Pleased you had a break at your Mum's for a couple of nights and enjoyed a good lie-in! Take care Sophie, Lyn x

Hi Sophie aww good lie ins,yes me same the amtrip also makes me sleep soundly what dose are you on im on 10 mg smallest dose. if you find very groggy in mornings and unbearable there are other ones to try,barbs uses different one. genlte hugs. melly cuddly cats make my world seem so much more fun
